Spikenard Magdalena

Biblically Inspired Fragrance from the Holy Land

Perfume of the 1st Century B.C.

In 1994, during Holy Week while attending a service at the Church of the Nativity in Bethlehem, my father, Nicola Canawati, was reading the story of Mary Magdalene breaking the Alabaster Box and pouring perfume upon Jesus. During that moment, he felt inspired to recreate this special biblical fragrance.
Spikenard Magdalena was developed using ingredients traditionally associated with ancient fragrances, including Nard, Myrrh, Cinnamon, Iris, Sunbul Oil, and Perfume Oil. The result is a rich and memorable scent inspired by one of the most beloved fragrances mentioned in Scripture.
The name Spikenard appears throughout the Bible, including Matthew 26:7, Mark 14:3-6, and Luke 7:36-37, where it is associated with devotion, worship, and sacrifice.
Over the years, Spikenard Magdalena has been shared by ministries throughout the United States as a meaningful gift of faith. For many Christians, this fragrance carries deep spiritual significance and serves as a reminder of devotion, blessing, and the enduring connection between the Holy Land and the Christian faith.
Today, at 3 Arches USA, we continue to share this fragrance in honor of my father's vision, preserving a tradition inspired by Scripture and rooted in the heritage of the Holy Land.
